We’re thrilled to introduce the six new companies joining our Global IoT Accelerator. We’ve been working with these teams for over a month now in our Ramp Up Sprint. And we’re excited now to turn it up a notch for the next three months!

There are two themes strongly represented in this new batch: Health and Agtech. Half of our portfolio now is companies dedicated to using technology to improve how we feel. Agricultural technology is an area we’re excited to be learning more about and we now have four companies working to change what we eat. As we learn, we continued to hone our thesis on connected businesses. It’s great to be able to support more and more startups in the spaces that we’re most excited about.

Here’s a quick run down of the businesses they are building:

  • Auxilia (@auxiliahk /Hong Kong) A smart baby journal for working parents, including a wearable for caregivers to easily track baby’s daily feeding and behaviour, a connected charging station that doubles as an air quality monitor and a standalone app focused on premium UX and real-time notifications.
  • EyeRov (India) An underwater drone that is a highly controllable, easy to use, lightweight for underwater inspections and monitoring.
  • Bonbouton (@FlexTraPower /USA)is a technology platform for preventative diabetic health care. Their first product, a smart insole with a proprietary embedded graphene sensing system, passively monitors the skin’s physiological signals in order to detect early signs of foot ulcers. This simplifies patient self-monitoring and reduces the frequency of doctor visits.
  • JALA (@atnicid / Indonesia) A multi-sensor device that is easy to use and affordable for the majority of Indonesian shrimp farmers that are independent small holders. Paired with the software platform, farmers can monitor and adjust their treatments and techniques to ensure a healthy and bountiful pond.
  • Lightsense (Lebanon) LightSense is a modular Internet of Things platform that helps poultry farmers better predict the future and optimize their revenue. Using sensors, farmers can collect data and compare it to optimal poultry cycles.
  • Strados (@StradosLabs /USA) Strados is the only wearable that listens to each and every breath you take. Strados tracks how well your body and activities synchronize with your breaths. Through touch-activated sensors and on-board vibrations, Strados provides you with a discrete notification and guides you to mindful breathing that improves performance and health.

This latest cohort shows our continued dedication to building a diverse portfolio. We now have 15 countries represented across 26 companies and 25% of our teams have at least one female founder. This ratio is higher than the average across startups and something we are passionate about increasing in the hardware space.

The Brinc portfolio (aka family) is now up to 14 new investments this year, meaning we more than doubled our portfolio since January. And the year’s not over yet. We’ll be sharing more details on this evolution in the coming months. Stay tuned for this and other exciting news on our accelerator programs.
