We’re very excited to introduce twenty-two new companies who were selected to join our Fall 2018 IoT & Connected Hardware and Drone & Robotics accelerator programs. Having received a record number of applications from all over the world, it’s even more impressive that this ambitious bunch made the final cut to secure their place in Brinc’s portfolio. For the past month, we’ve worked closely with these teams during our Ramp Up phase and in the coming weeks, we’ll be hosting them in Hong Kong, Poland and Bahrain for the offline portion of our program.

The latest teams to join the Brinc family are representative of our four core investment categories, where we believe that connected technologies will help improve: How We Feel, Where We Live, What We Eat, and How We Move. It’s a rewarding feeling to be able to support global teams in the areas we are most passionate about & see the ability to make the largest impact.

Here’s a quick rundown of the companies coming on board:

Hong Kong Program (2 programs — IoT & Connected Hardware and Drone & Robotics)

  • Advanced Catering Solutions is developing a system that will transform the way large volume caterers work, this is done by generating a unique barcode for every batch of cooked or prepared food component that will provide accountability and traceability to the food supply chains.
  • Bharati Robotic is developing fully autonomous and agnostic industrial cleaning robots to help build healthier working environments
  • Botsync Pte Ltd is a robotics team focusing on autonomous mobile robots for inspection and logistics automation. The company is using a powerful deep learning engine that allows it’s robots to navigate effectively even under extreme constraints
  • BuzzCloudGlobal is leveraging AI and specific data gathering methods in order to provide commercial bee farmers with the right management information in time for them to save colonies and help improve how we eat.
  • Ecoli Sense is creating real-time bacteria detection sensors using cutting-edge nanotechnology and state of the art calibration techniques. This solution makes health monitoring a low-cost and easy to use system thanks to their custom dashboard and analytics tools.
  • Enerdrones provides a different approach to charging for drones through a network of charging stations using energy beaming technology. This solution improves drone capabilities without the need to stop or slow down and recharge. This can be a game changer to enable drone high ways in the future & extend range and reach.
  • Eyedentify Systems creates intelligent automotive IoT solutions that enhance the safety of drivers & passengers in vehicles through video analytics, deep learning, and situation based alerting.
  • Jetbrain Robotics is building an advanced robotic transportation solution for hospitals. Their first product is a fully automated medicine transportation robot for multi-speciality hospitals
  • Lastbit is building a truly next-generation hardware and software solution to securely store/manage your crypto. Seamlessly pay with crypto/fiat while always staying in control of your funds.
  • QooWear has developed smart clothing garments for extreme environments. Using AI, the garments are able to recognise in real-time the coldest points of the body enabling active-heated. Their first target market is for the oil & gas industry
  • Valkyrie Industries Ltd is developing a universal technology of touch (haptics) for virtual simulations. Its proprietary wearable tool allows developers to create more impactful virtual simulations to allow richer content creation such as training, touch before you buy, and for applied engineering applications.
  • ТОП(Top) is a robotic farming solution that aims to solve problems linked with the use of herbicides in agriculture such as waste of resources, herbicides resistance and water, soil, and air contamination. The automated robot can detect the difference between weeds & crop and reduce the use of herbicides by up-to 70% through smart spraying systems.

If you are eager to connect with any of these teams and believe you can add value, please sign up here to join us as a mentor. If you’re interested in becoming a partner of Brinc Hong Kong, please send an email to Heriberto Saldivar: heriberto@brinc.io.

We would also love to invite you to meet these teams in HK during their stay in town. They will be coming in for the month of November and headed back in early December.

Please RSVP here for our Demo Day on November 29th: Brinc Demo Day.

MENA Program (IoT & Connected Hardware)

  • Yups Tech Solutions is a technology-driven company with a focus on designing and manufacturing IoT products for enterprises. Their flagship product, Aadi, is a smart wearable for construction workforce safety and productivity
  • Smart Data Logger is an IoT-based solution for real-time traceability of temperature-sensitive shipments. Enabling the connection of all supply chain process owners for real-time action.
  • Kanooq is an industrial IoT company developing an advanced, preventive data-driven infrastructure platform for safety monitoring in industrial applications such as gas and oil pipelines.

Would you like to connect with any of these teams and offer your expertise? If so, please sign up here to join Brinc MENA as a mentor. If you’re interested in becoming a partner, please email Marwa Aleskafi: marwa.aleskafi@brinc.io.

You have the chance to meet these amazing teams in Bahrain, at our Demo Day on December 2nd. Please RSVP by filling out this form.

Poland Prize Program (IoT & Connected Hardware)

We haven’t wasted anytime — with the announcement earlier this year of our activities in Poland (facilities, programs & funds) we have accepted six teams into our accelerator program.

  • AVSS is developing hardware and software to improve the safety of autonomous aerial vehicles. The company’s products provide end-users with proactive and reactive solutions to properly manage their fleet of aerial vehicles.
  • OS Beehives is building a smart monitoring device for beehives that tell you when the colony is sick so beekeepers can optimize health and improve yeild in a sustainable manner.
  • Octavic helps manufacturing organisations gather data from the production floor to improve efficiency, better quantify KPIs for process improvement, and reduce waste.
  • Aether Biomedical is a rehab robotics startup focused on using AI to improve bio-signal processing. Their first product is a low-cost bionic limb for upper limb amputees.
  • Rabbit Tractors has designed the world’s first truly autonomous, swarm-enabled, and multi-purposed farm vehicle paving the way to improve our food supply
  • Krtkl provides an end-to-end platform for rapidly deploying high-performance, connected systems used in automation, and bandwidth-intensive data processing applications.

If you could be a valuable mentor to any of the above teams, please sign up here. If you’re interested in becoming a partner, please send an email to Michal Gasior: michal.gasior@brinc.io.

And once again, you have an opportunity to meet these awesome teams in Poznan, Poland at our Demo Day on December 14th. You can RSVP by filling this form.

things are just warming up!

This Fall 2018 cohort adds 16 new investments to our growing family of founders and also features 6 teams participating for the very first time in our Poland Prize Program. This brings our total portfolio to 58 companies across 24 countries. The statistics continue to improve as well — valuation growth post-program continues to stay steady in the range of 2–3x with most of our teams moving to secure institutional rounds (more on this in a later post at year end) with our first cohort’s book value having grown 6.9x. With a heavier focus on enterprise in 2018 our portfolio split is now 17 consumer companies & 41 enterprise companies with our overall assets under management having grown by over 70% this year.

We are also looking forward to kicking off our Food Technology program — that was launched earlier this year. The program will run it slightly off-cycle so we can secure numerous exciting partnerships for our teams before we start. In the next few weeks we will be announcing teams accepted to our first batch.

Applications for all of our next accelerator programs will also begin in November. Stay tuned for that!
